A wonderful family vacation awaits you
Want to acquaint (or reacquaint) your family to the beauty and serenity of Northern Wisconsin? There’s plenty to do in Bayfield for kids of all ages, so make sure they leave their video games and cell phones behind. On your family vacation, your children will love learning about all that the wonderful outdoors has in store for them…from building sandcastles on some of Lake Superior’s fabulous sandy beaches and swimming in shallow warm water to discovering nature. What constellations can they find in the spectacular night sky? How about skipping stones in Lake Superior, seeing how many different leaves and berries they can collect or venturing out on a historic ghost tour walk in Bayfield. Don’t pass up a trip to Madeline Island on the Madeline Island Ferry Line or a boat trip to see the Apostle Islands and tour a lighthouse.
Visit the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Headquarters and learn how to become a junior ranger, take sailing lessons from Northcoast Community Sailing, or take a family walk along the shoreline or on one of the many hiking trails. And afterwards, be sure to get one of Bayfield’s famous ice cream treats!
And what kids don’t like to shop? You can find great shopping at Inspire, Brownstone Centre, Sweet Sailing, Keeper of the Light, Bayfield Books, and of course, the Candy Shoppe for sweet treats. And be sure to include a visit to Bayfield’s orchards and fruit farms to pick berries or apples during your vacation including a stop at Erickson’s Country Store for freshly made apple cider donuts!
Bayfield also boasts wonderful playgrounds including a wonderful set of play equipment right on the water for kiddies. You’ll also find a swimming beach right in town and plenty of picnic benches and grills. Want to get some exercise indoors? Buy a day pass at the Bayfield Recreation Center and Swimming Pool.
