Madeline Island welcomes visitors with "turn of the century charm" as one of 22 Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. The Madeline Island Ferry crosses the water from spring break-up of the ice to late winter. Once on Madeline Island, visitors can explore the beautiful state and town parks whether driving, hiking, biking, or kayaking. Located seven miles from the ferry landing, Big Bay State Park features picturesque sandstone bluffs with nine miles of hiking trails. You can also enjoy Big Bay Town Park with its beach access, nature trails and a picnic area. Plus the 80 acre lagoon is ideal for kayaking, canoeing and fishing.
History buffs can experience over 300 years of Island history at the Madeline Island Museum. Also located on the island are a number of specialty shops plus a variety of restaurants for everyone's appetite.
