Do good, have fun, and meet 4-time Iditarod Champion, Jeff King
at the Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race, February 4-6, 2011
The Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race in Bayfield, Wisconsin, invites you to experience the Midwest's largest and most exciting sled dog race as a participating volunteer. Over 60 sled dog teams come to Bayfield to compete in this top sled dog event. You can request your spot as a volunteer - handle dogs by helping mushers hook up their teams or help bring teams to the starting chute. Or, if you choose, assist at "check points" and communicate via radio on teams' progress, guide teams to stay on the trail or help enter times at the finish line.
As an exciting new addition to this year's schedule, Jeff King, recognized as the "Winningest Musher in the World," will be the special speaker at the Musher Mixer on Saturday evening at the Bayfield Inn. Hear anecdotes from Jeff's experiences as a 4-time Iditarod Champion, 30 years of dog-mushing in Alaska, and the unique relationship between musher and dog. Learn more about Jeff on his Husky Homestead website.
