A Weekend of Arts on the Lake
Bayfield, WI hosts the 47th Annual Festival of Arts July 25-26
Being ranked in the top ten vacation destinations in the midwest by Midwest Living Magazine, Bayfield is proud to be hosting the 47th Annual Festival of Arts. Over 80 artists and crafters from ten states will gather on the beautiful shores of Lake Superior in Bayfield for the 47th Annual Festival of Arts Saturday and Sunday, July 25 & 26th, 2009. There's something for everyone with jewelry, metal sculpture, photography, ceramics, fiber, wearable art, paintings, glass, beadwork and more filling Memorial Park along the lake from 10am - 5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday. You'll also find live music and festival food. Be sure to look for the blue ribbons awarded to the artists who will be recognized for "Best in Show" in five categories.
Come early to enjoy food, wine, and music at "The Art of the Box" live auction on Friday, July 24th from 6pm - 9pm where original art items reflecting the theme will be auctioned off to the highest bidders. This year's theme - the box - may consist of a wide variety of pieces and artists are encouraged to think "outside of the box." This year's auction will be featuring a silent auction in addition to their traditional live auction. This is certainly an event not to be missed. Proceeds will go to help fund grants for local artists through the Chequamegon Bay Arts Council.
Bayfield artists will also be hosting a Gallery Walk on Saturday, July 25th from 10am to 5pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour studios and galleries. Enjoy demonstrations such as seeing a potter at work, or a jeweler creating a masterpiece and purchase original works from Bayfield's many talented artists. Bayfield was recently named as one of the best places to live and work as an artist in "The Artist's Magazine", a national fine art publication.
