A One of a Kind Adventure

The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Meyers Beach Ice Caves are open and ready to be explored.

During the summer months visitors are seen kayaking in and around the Myers Beach Sea caves. This time of year however these amazing caves can be accessible to far more than just kayakers. These beautiful sea caves become ice caves, with amazing ice sculptures over the brownstone cliffs formed by mother nature. The caves have been open for about a week now, and they are being thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Travel on the ice of Lake Superior always demands extreme caution. The ice is very rough in some areas, smooth and slippery in others. Pets must be kept on a leash. Ice conditions can change rapidly, so keep safety in mind at all times. Please remember that snowmobiles and other motorized vehicles are not allowed within 1/4 mile of the sea caves.
