Summer is Fast Approaching

After a successful winter season, Bayfield is ready for the boating a golfing season to begin

Long known as the "Gateway to the Apostle Islands," Bayfield is known for some of the best sailing and recreational boating in the world. For Bayfield's visitors, sailing among the Apostle Islands is an experience not to be missed. "On a sailboat, there's no such thing as a schedule... At any given point in our voyage, we can see four or more wooded islands. Often they're separated by only a few hundred yards, and kayakers can visit several in a day's paddling," explains Robert Butler - writer for the Kansas City Star, "the [boat] gently rocks. Now this is living." Butler had his first sailing experience last year, and fell in love with the experience, "I'd sail the Apostles again in a minute."

Whether a visitor is looking for a multiple day charter or simply a 3-hour captained tour there are plenty of options. For more information on sailing in the Apostle Islands visit www.bayfield.org

For those visitors looking to stay on land during their visit, Bayfield is proud to offer two amazing championship golf courses. The Apostle Highlands Golf Course offers some of the best Lake Superior views known. With views of the lake from 13 holes, a golfer may have a challenge making par.

The Madeline Island Golf Club offers an amazing course designed by Robert Trent Jones - world renowned golf course architect. The course will delight novice players and yet challenge those more skilled to interpret the refinements of this unique double-nine design.
