Are you ready to Polar Plunge into Lake Superior?
The 5th Annual Bayfield Winter Festival presents another year of midwinter fun!
Bayfield, WI goes wild with its 5th Annual Bayfield Winter Festival (formerly Manypenny Madness), featuring various events from Friday, March 5th to Sunday, March 7th, all of which raise money for the Bayfield Area Recreation Center. The weekend kicks off Friday with a Meet the Plungers Dinner at The Bayfield Inn. Dine with the brave plungers and watch the movie of last year's zaniness. Enjoy a great Italian meal at The Bayfield Inn for $7. All proceeds go toward the Bayfield Area Recreation Center.

Throughout the weekend - Luminary hike on the Brownstone Trail, Night sledding on Manypenny Avenue, dogsled rides on the big Lake, Kiteboards on the Lake,Apostle Highlands Golf Course Icebreaker Open throughout downtown Bayfield, Cannonball and Bellyflop Contest with Water Ballet at the Bayfield Area Recreation Center and much more!
Saturday, March 6th
11:00am Run on Water - This family fun event is open to people of all ages and skill levels. Participants can choose to run, walk, ski, snowshoe, skate or even bike the 5-mile course across frozen Lake Superior from Bayfield to Madeline Island and back. Snowshoe and ski rentals available. If there is no ice road this event will be cancelled. Download a registration form (pdf).
3:00pm Polar Bear Plunge - Watch brave volunteers parade then jump into frigid Lake Superior through a hole in the ice to raise money for the Bayfield Area Recreation Center.
Judge the plunges and the costumes. Better yet, do it yourself! Pledge forms are available at the Bayfield Area Recreation Center or register online at www.bayfieldreccenter.com.
5:00pm - 9:30pm Mt. Ashwabay Winter Festival Bash - Finish off the day with a chili tasting, tubing, live music, food, adult beverages and a bonfire at the Mt. Ashwabay Recreation Area. Sample chili from the area's best restaurants, ride the tubing hill and rock to Corey Carlson inside the tent. Free Bay Area Rural Transit (BART) buses will be running to/from downtown Bayfield 4:00pm-11:00pm. $10 wristband for anyone 6 and older. Wear your season pass and get in for free.
Sunday, March 7th
8:00am - 12:00pm Breakfast at the Bayfront Inn/Pier Plaza - Head to the Pier Plaza for this special, a la carte breakfast with proceeds going towards the Bayfield Area Recreation Center. All patrons will receive coupons for the Pier's upcoming "March Madness."
9:30am-4:30pm Skiing at Mt. Ashwabay Recreation Area - Downhill or cross country ski at our great community ski hill. Tubing 12:00pm-4:00pm.
11:00am Ice Bike Dash for Cold Hard Cash - Ride your bike on an obstacle course on the ice and win cash prizes (frozen in an ice block).
