![]() 5th annual "Bayfield in Bloom" celebrates spring with 14,000 daffodils... Bayfield Wisconsin's 5th annual "Bayfield in Bloom" month-long spring celebration is set for May 18 through June 17, 2007. This year, a record 14,000 planted daffodils will greet visitors as they enter Bayfield. Numerous activities are offered throughout the promotion, many focusing on gardening and the natural beauty found in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Kicking off the spring celebration is Larry Meiller, Wisconsin Public Radio's gardening expert, who will broadcast "Garden Talk" live at the Bayfield Pavilion on May 18th, 10:30AM - Noon.
Joining Larry will be a number of gardening experts who can answer questions and share their advice with the audience. This event is free to the public. Also at the Pavilion will be free sessions for "Ask the Experts" 9 - 10AM and 12:30 - 2 PM. Two additional garden sessions will follow the Larry Meiller Show: "Using a Rain Barrel 101" and "Swagger Your Style" on how to arrange plant materials into swags to decorate your home or business. These sessions will be approximately 1/2 hour each and are free to the public. During Bayfield in Bloom, each week features events that include garden tours, plant sales, the Apple Blossom Run, workshops, historic walking tours, wildflower driving tours, along with ongoing activities. Hauser’s Famous “Red Barn” Sale begins May 2... Folks come from throughout the Upper Midwest to purchase the quality and variety of field dug perennials and bushes and shrubs available at Hauser’s Red Barn Sale. This annual event at Hauser’s Superior View Farm, in Bayfield, WI features plants which are all northern field grown stock. At the Red Barn plant sale, you can pick perennial flowers from freshly dug root stock. Also available are fruit trees, shrubs, annuals, hanging baskets, bedding plants, bulbs, potting soils, peat moss, etc. and free expert technical support. While at Hauser’s, be sure to check out the scenic view from their 1908 Sears Roebuck & Company barn, 600 feet above Lake Superior. Inside the barn you can find a miniature tractor collection, a can collection, a hat collection and an assortment of other farm relics and antiques. The Red Barn sale continues through Memorial Day.
26th Annual Apple Blossom Run Saturday, May 19, 2007... Come join us for a run or stroll through Bayfield's scenic orchard area Saturday morning, May 19th, at the 26th Annual Apple Blossom Run. This fundraiser for the Bayfield Carnegie Library includes a 2-mile fun run and 10K walk at 9:00 a.m. and a 10K run at 9:30 a.m. These timed races are suitable for serious or casual runners and families. Early registration, prior to May 12, is $10 for child/student, $15 adults, $35 family (up to 4 people). Registration prices go up after that date to $15, $20, $45. Registration forms can be downloaded from our website at www.bayfield.org. Click on "Bayfield in Bloom" and go to Apple Blossom Run in the schedule. All races begin at the Bayfield Apple Company's gazebo, corner of County J & Betzold Rd. If you register early you will be eligible for a drawing of prizes from the local orchards. The Apple Blossom Run is an activity that is part of "Bayfield in Bloom", a month long celebration of the coming of spring and the blooming of wildflowers and fruit orchards in Bayfield. |
