From Apostle Islands camping to scenic hiking and bicycling, the boundless natural beauty of the Bayfield area sets the stage for so many unforgettable things to do in Wisconsin. The pristine setting that surrounds Bayfield is much of what makes the area a favorite Wisconsin tourism destination.

Discover Wisconsin in a way the first settlers would have experienced it by going on a simple hike. You’ll find several well-marked trails right near town. Or head out into Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and nearby Wisconsin state parks to get off the beaten path and discover some of the area’s most breathtaking views. Can’t get enough? Consider camping at one of the many available campsites.

Birding enthusiast? The Bayfield area is one of the best Wisconsin sites to see bald eagles, warblers, woodpeckers and even the occasional Peregrine Falcon.

Bicycling is the perfect way to savor even more of the surrounding splendor. Road cyclists will find miles of wide roads and challenging climbs to test their legs and scenic views to reward their eyes. Mountain bikers will discover dozens of inviting trails to follow their bliss. There are also several good bike shops in town that will rent bikes or help make sure yours is ready for adventure.

Love to golf? Apostle Highlands Golf Course offers golfers a steep challenge, along with sweeping views of the blue bay below.

Bayfield’s unique climate also makes it the “Berry Capital of Wisconsin.” You’ll find dozens of charming berry farms and rolling apple orchards where you can set out, bucket in hand, to pick your own fresh seasonal fruit.

Of course, being surrounded by so much natural beauty, you may feel a little artistically inspired. Perfect. You’ll find all sorts of workshops and classes to help get those creative juices going and refine your skills at the Madeline Island School of Arts, area arts and crafts shops and galleries, and at the Bayfield Recreation Center.

Or you may want to learn a little bit more about the history of the area. Then it’s time to pay a memorable visit to any of several fascinating area museums or go on the captivating Bayfield Heritage Walking Tour or thrilling Ghost Tour.

When night falls and you’ve enjoyed dinner, it’s not time to settle in yet! Instead, head over to the dazzling new Northwoods Lodge-inspired Legendary Waters Resort & Casino. There, you can try your luck on the slots and gaming tables or just enjoy a drink or late-night snack on the deck overlooking Lake Superior as it sparkles in the moonlight.

With so much to do without ever even setting foot off dry land, is it any wonder Bayfield is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Wisconsin?
